Frequently Asked Questions
TOP 3 questions:
Do you offer Style Statement sessions on the phone?
Yes, we work with people all over the world. The majority of our clientele is long distance. Sessions over the phone are equally effective and powerful, you only miss out on the tea and cookies that we serve. We call you.
NOTE: Style Statement sessions are offered Fridays and select Saturdays.
We request that long distance clients email or mail us a photo. It doesn't have to be a glamour shot, we're not 'checking out' your style, it just helps to build a closer connection. Also, telephone clients are requested to pay in advance. Jocelyn will work out the payment details with you when you book your appointment.
What is the cost?
The fee is $2000 CDN & US (+ 6% gst for Canadian residents). $100 from every session will be donated to Women for Women International "supporting women in war-torn regions with financial and emotional aid, job-skills training, rights education and small business assistance so they can rebuild their lives." And every Style Statement client will receive a copy of our book.
How long does a Style Statement session take?
About ninety minutes.

What does a Style Statement Session involve?
It's a lot like being interviewed…by a really good, intuitive friend who wants the best for you. We ask you a series of questions, from playful to profound, and we listen...very intently. You get to imagine, reflect on, and share what matters most to you. After about an hour, we take a few thoughtful minutes to ourselves, and then we present you with your Style Statement and its precise definitions.
We share the highlights of your session, what went into defining your Style Statement, and explain the 80/20 Style Statement principle. And we look at how Style Statement and our Life Style Map can become a tool for making choices in your life.
Who conducts the Style Statement session?
We work one-on-one. You will meet with either Carrie or Danielle.
Appointment Availability
Appointments are booked two to four weeks in advance on Fridays and select Saturdays.
Can I buy a Style Statement session as a gift?
Yes! We have gift certificates available for purchase. We are happy to mail the gift certificate package to your gift recipient.
Do I need to prepare for my session?
Just bring yourself. In the mean time, you might want to start thinking about what inspires you. What lights your fire, floats your boat, and completely intrigues you? We look forward to hearing all about it.

“How can two words define so much of me?”
A single word can distill all that you know to be good, beautiful, and true. Words carry energy. Every word has its own history and momentum. It is the result of cultural enterprise, constructed over ages of time. Look into a word and you will find a world of meaning and possibility. Applied with intention, words are magic formulas.
Arranged by the 80/20 Style Statement principle, your “first word” and “second word” encapsulate the ideal spirit, look, and feel of how you move through the world.
“Can two words guide my life?”
Your Style Statement is a tool. Tools are only useful when you’re, well, using them. And learning to make a new tool do what you want it to do can take some practice. If you apply your Style Statement to your decision-making, creativity, and ways of relating to yourself and others, then yes!, unequivocally, your two words can guide your life in the direction that you want it to go. With a guiding hand, it only takes a small rudder to steer a ship.
“What if I’m changeable and I like to express my self in a lot of different ways?”
There is always a through-line to our personal stories, no matter how many scene changes we make. Beneath every choice, as different as those choices may appear to be, are deep longings and talents that are rooted to your spirit. So, on the surface you may be constantly altering your image or your direction, but if you look more deeply into your varied interests, jobs, clothes, or relationships, you will inevitably see themes running through your decisions.
Your Style Statement anchors you to your essence – which can be expressed truthfully, in endless ways.
“I’m fashionable, stylish, and happy with my look.”
Terrific. A Style Statement encompasses the spirit, look and feel of who you are. This is about more than how you dress or decorate; this is about how you relate and create in every area of living.
“I have no interest in fashion.”
Well then we have to ask, why not? Fashion matters. It’s an unavoidable fact of our culture. Humans are sensory creatures, and the way we suit up and show up speaks volumes. Having a Style Statement is not about being a fashion plate. It is about defining what’s authentic to you and sending clear signals.
How does Style Statement work in partnership and sharing space?
Having a hard time reconciling your partner’s wagon wheel coffee table and with your floral patterned sofa? Or balancing your extrovertedness with your partner’s reclusive nature? You can combine your two Style Statements into one for your relationship and shared space. For example: Cultivated Play meets Classic Earth, could become “Cultivated Earth” or “Classic Play”. You’ll have to negotiate on what matters most to you and find your common ground.
Is a Style Statement the same as a personal “brand”?
The popular term “personal branding” describes the strategy of marketing your outer identity for commercial purposes. It can be very useful in the marketplace because it helps you differentiate from the competition. A Style Statement can be immensely useful in creating business success, but it’s not solely about packaging yourself for appeal. An individual Style Statement works from the inside out. It’s about being genuinely you in every dimension of your life.
“Will my Style Statement change over time?”
It depends. When we’re in our teens or in early adulthood, it’s not always easy to see the fullness of our essence. Often, the truth takes some time, or some breakthroughs, to be revealed. It’s not our essence that changes over time, but rather our ability to see and feel it. As your “inner” vision improves with experience, it’s a valuable exercise to take stock of how you’ve changed, and so perhaps you might want to review your Style Statement after long periods of time or after major transformation periods in your life.
The heart of you is enduring. Your spirit transcends trends, eras and circumstances. We believe that if you can get to the heart of what you love and why you love it, then your Style Statement will endure indefinitely, perhaps for a lifetime.
